Iowa State to Big 10

Learfield Sports Directors Cup

According to ESPN, Iowa State ranked #22 in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup rankings as of the standings released last month. This ranking, as described by ESPN's Adam Rittenberg in the post, "measures overall athletic department strength by awarding points for how schools finish in up to 20 sports (10 men's, 10 women's). So it's a good snapshot of a school's total athletic clout, not just the revenue sports."

At #22 in the country, Iowa State is in the middle of the current Big Ten institutions ahead of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue and Northwestern and many schools being rumored as Big Ten expansion candidates.

This ranking has been achieved with a modest budget in comparison to many schools - both above and below - ISU on the list.
